Guess who is a big preschooler today?
I'm still in denial about the fact that I am old enough to have a preschooler on my hands. He was so cute this morning and couldn't wait for his very first day of school. He picked out his outfit and got his backpack all ready to go. The smile he is displaying above is that of "I'm so excited but don't want to show mom just how excited I am". He seriously couldn't stop grinning all the way there (and even on the way home). We absolutely love his teacher and are so excited for this next year. He has 9 other boys and 2 girls in his class. One of those girls being my cousin's daughter, who is absolutely adorable. The teacher has her hands full with all of those boys I'm sure, but the first day was quite a success in Little Guy's eyes. He loved it and can't wait to go again (especially since he already gets to bring something for show and tell!)
I love this little man. He is such a sweetheart and absolutely hilarious. I know everyone says this, but they really do grow up way too fast. Before I know it he'll be off to college. Sure, it sounds like an exaggeration, but believe me... it's not.
p.s. The drama from this post ended up being no-drama-whatsoever. The very next day Little Guy was nervous to go back but was brave and went anyway. We found out that a kid barfed in the pool right after we left that day so all of the drama I thought we had caused was completely forgotten. He never did get to change classes, but did awesome regardless. By the end he even loved it and jumped off the diving board for graduation day. It was seriously an answer to our prayers! Thank you to all of your comments and emails that helped buoy me up and remind me that we as mom's are not meant to be perfect, we are meant to learn from our mistakes and move forward. Thank heaven for resilient and forgiving little kids!

ReplyDeleteOh, he is one handsome little man! I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but from here on out, the time is really going to fly. I honestly feel like my oldest was just his age, and come this December she'll be a Beehive! It's crazy fast, but you'll savor these sweet moments.
